Another Former ‘All My Children’ Performer Lands in Genoa City

Early this afternoon, Entertainment Weekly broke the news that daytime's number one drama, "The Young and the Restless," has put another former "All My Children" star on contract to join Genoa City's ranks. This happens just several weeks after wooing the ABC Daytime drama's acclaimed and long-time casting director, Judy Blye Wilson. The CBS drama and Wilson have snatched up one of Wilson's most popular Pine Valley finds, Melissa Claire Egan. Beginning on November 11, Egan will debut in the contract role of mystery woman Chelsea.

It was recently announced that Darnell Williams would be joining the cast of "The Young and the Restless" in 2012. The two-time Daytime Emmy Award winner becomes the forth "All My Children" actor to land on the high rated CBS daytime dramas since the 41-year old ABC soap went off the air in September 2011. He joins Jacob Young who returned to "The Bold and the Beautiful" last September, and past and future co-stars Debbi Morgan and Melissa Claire Egan.

Friday, November 15 was a busy day for CBS' "The Young and the Restless" and its cast members. On that day it was announced that Amelia Heinle (Victoria Newman) had signed a new deal with the daytime drama series and Sean Carrigan (Stitch Rayburn) had been upped to contract status. The news wasn't so great for fans of Billy Miller (Billy Abbott), who is currently in a stalemate with producers of the soap opera. Miller, whose contract is set to expire next month, has yet to sign a new deal and it's being reported that recent casting calls for caucasian males are smoke screens for the show to instead cast a replacement for the actor.

With Billy Miller unable to reach a new deal with Sony Pictures Television, CBS' "The Young and the Restless" will soon say goodbye to the actor and hello again to David Tom, who originated the role of an adult Billy Abbott in 1999. In an exclusive interview with TV Guide's Michael Logan, "The Young and the Restless'" David Tom reveals that he had to audition for the role of Billy Abbott when the series was looking to recast the character when contract talks between current portrayer Billy Miller and Sony Pictures Television proved to be unsuccessful. This was despite the fact that Tom garnered two Daytime Emmy Award nominations in the category of Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series in 2000 and 2001 (he won in 2000) for his portrayal of the character.
